Title: There's a new kid in town.

You had another what?

This can only mean trouble...

Suzy and Dylan (Dylan is the less wrinkled & more hirsute of us in photo #2) are in the hospital tonight. Both are very well, but Suzy had a little bleeding after giving birth to Mr 9lbs 1oz at 10:04 today, so they wanted to be sure.

I cried. There is nothing like it for making me cry. I didn't think I could love more people than I already did, but whaddaya know? I was wrong again.

So far, Louis J is fine with all this. It's what happens when the boys are under the same roof I'm holding my breath for.

However, having had only 4 hour's sleep in the last  40, please don't quote me on anything at the moment.

Congratulations.   :D :D

We've just had our 2nd a few weeks ago and it's all good fun.  2yo sister is more relaxed now she's realised the baby can't actually do anything, so toys etc always come back afterwards..

OTOH there seems to be no time left in the day, and no energy left in the evening; we have just finished watching a film - it took us three installments spread over a week.

Thanks everyone.

He'll be 4 weeks old tomorrow. No sign of him sleeping through yet, but it'll come (it must come).

is spot on. We found ouselves watching the tdf highlights last week and realised after 40 minutes that it was the longest time we'd spent awake together since Dylan arrived.

It took Gus about 17 months to work it out. Good luck

I remember when 7 weeks seemed impossibly old for my baby. I expect it's just the same second time round. How's big brother dealing with his new-found elevation to senior boy?

Have you managed to take any paternity leave?

17 months?

17?

Months?

If he's not sleeping through by month 4, he's going back!

I guess we were spoiled by Louis (who has been an 11 hour-a-night-guy since he was 12 weeks old).

Louis seems to be taking it all in his stride - he even helps sometimes (he'll wipe milk from Dylan's chin). I've not noticed any jealousy/rivalry yet, but I have been making a conscious effort to make sure Louis isn't left out. He knows that whatever else happens, he has one of us to himself for an hour a night (bath, story and bed).

I took the 2 paid weeks, but it wasn't enough. I knew it wouldn't be, because it's just so much more work with 2 of them. But my colleague would have struggled had I taken any more time off, as would my cases. It makes life difficult for Suzy, as she has to do all the night shifts while I'm at work. So we look forward to the sleeping through.

I'll be looking to take another 2 weeks off soon, but they'll have to be unpaid, or come out of my annual leave.

Do you think you might have another one?

Yup, and a good night is still not guaranteed. We're hoping #2 has different ideas, if s/he decides to make an appearance. Watch this space...

17 months??

You were lucky!

I remember the secretary telling me hers slept fine once they went to school.  It seemed funny at the time.

(Actually, older one is normally ok now, but finding it more difficult when there's too much crying going on)

They don't all take as long as 17 months.

Some take much much longer.

Simon, our first-born, was good at sleeping thru' untill approx 12 months old when his body clock went into reverse.Slept all day then awake all night   ::-) which lasted approx. 12 months :o. Marj & I took turns to do the night shift which I found difficult due to working.Marj stopped working.
Tis a wonder there was a second birth.

That's cheered you up no end eh?  :demon:
