Directed by the late, great Phil Chilvers. A man sorely missed in the TV world.
-
"By Swindon, this is an inspiring tale!"
-
Is that the one with "Stoney Bridge" in it?
-
That's Stoneybridge. With its stoney bridge.
-
That's Stoneybridge. With its stoney bridge.
...and a bus shelter. 8)

What do we want? The Olympics!
Where do we want 'em? Stoneybridge!

What about the Commonwealth Games? They're crap.

You, Sir! Should be taken out and whipped repeatedly with ancient, worn, non-indexed 6 speed chain until you have seen the error of your ways!

Stoneybridge - City of Discovery!!
And then there was Bert Bastard - don't have YouTube access at work, but there are one or two clips of him on there.
The thing with women is to stimulate the clematis ;D
And Frank Hovis.
-
Frank Hovis is my favourite comic creation ever. Toilet humour done perfectly.
-
Yesterday, 6:30pm on Radio 4, Absolutely was back
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b037v4g6/Sketchorama_Absolutely_Special/
Calum Gilhooley, Frank Hovis (not sure if he was On the Lavatory or not), Stoneybridge, Denzil and Gwynedd, the Little Girl, all featured. Worth a listen.
-
I was half asleep, and thought I'd dreamed it, because Sketch-o-Rama normally features a number of new acts, and I expected them to have some of the Fringe acts, until Andy Gates tweeted about it.
-
Btw, it was interesting to hear why London, rather than Stoneybridge, had hosted the Olympics.
-
Frank Hovis, indeed, on the toilet.
Stage direction:
"Frank looks around for toilet paper. Seeing none, he sighs and begins to undo his tie"
-
"I do apologise Ladies 'n' Gentlemen"
-
"...but after I had had my bath, I had to have a shower"

Damn, completely forgot that was on. Thanks for the reminder - I'll have to catch it on iplayer.

I caught that yesterday, always listen to Tuesday comedy on R4 if I'm in the car at the right time. However, I must say I was somewhat underwhelmed by this offering.
-
One of my favourite moments was from the episode where they were planning the annual Stoneybridge Jamboree, and trying to find a celeb to open it. They discuss writing to various people, including Tom Cruise, and then one of them points out that Tom Cruise is quite short, and people at the back won't be able to see him.
"Well, we could build him a wee podum..."
"Aye... or we cud all stand inna ditch!"
I can't see a podium, without thinking of those two lines. ;D
-
On Thatcher:
"...an' she have fangs what drip POISON JUICE and it's TRUE!"

Why thank you, I watched this many many years ago and had mostly forgotten about it apart from a random phrase about being in the hoover Denzil which I must say every time the Hoover is in use. My many children are used to me repeating random comedy phrases so ignore me now.
-
ITYM "in the hwaver"!
Frank Hovis was always my favourite, but the Wellses and Calum Gilhooley (especially the flight booking where he uses a slightly idiosyncratic phonetic alphabet) were also brilliant.

I liked Stoneybridge...
