Hi All.
I have got a Garmin Forerunner 305 and had mega problems importing data to Garmin Training Centre on my imac. All it would import was the distance and time! I looked around and saw Ascent, which sounded a godsend to me as a mac user. However, call me dumb or stupid ( or both!), I cannot for the life of me see how to import data from my forerunner 305. I would like to do this before shelling out for the full program. Does anyone know if there are instructions, or a manual for Ascent. Many thanks in advance.

no, but have you seen goldencheetah? similar but free.... ;D

Hi,
It says 'Direct Sync' on the Ascent website - connect the Gamin to the Mac with a USB cable, then when it shows in the Finder as a disc you do cmd+L in Ascent to sync.
There is some help in the application, but not a lot. Feel free to fire away with more questions!

Thanks for your replies.
However, when I connect the 305 to my mac with the USB cable, it does not show as a new hard drive/ device in finder! Its not a case of I am too stupid for the net but it doesnot seem to want to connect ??? ???
Maybe I will look at Golden Cheetah as recommended.

Check you have a data USB cable, or try a different USB cable anyway?

Is the 305 one of those models that has two connect modes, switchable in the menus - on some other models it's called 'spanner' - if so only one of those modes makes it appear as an external drive, and it probably defaults to the other mode.

Hi,
Not sure whether you've solved this but I can sync the wife's Forerunner 305 to Ascent no problem - in fact I just did so.
Procedure:
- plug in Forerunner (it says "battery charging in progress")
- load Ascent
- Press ⌘-L (or go to File > Sync GPS in the menu)
- "this may take a few minutes" message box pops up
- it disappears, you're done.
I have Ascent and like it a lot.
