My pan fried scallops on a celeriac mousse were great. Just need to think of something to do with the remainder of the 3 tonne celeriac.   ::-)
However, the second course, my first ever attempt at crab linguine was rather underwhelming.  Bit claggey, due mostly, I think, there being way too much crab in it.
I'd bought a whole large dressed crab from the fish van this morning along with the scallops.
Oh, and I forgot the salt and the lemon juice, so claggey and bland.

Well, Mrs B has a retired husband for cooking duties, there's bound to be evenings like this from time to time.

I don't get celeriac myself but Mum peels it, cuts it into 1.5cm slices, coats in seasoned egg & crumbs and fries it.

Paella.  It was going to be made with diced pork loin but Mrs CET had put the pork loin steaks in the freezer so I made it with Lincolnshire sausages instead and pork stock.  Valencia natives will now be calling for a non-deal Brexit but it was rather yummy.

MrsC cuts them up into piece suitable for roasting, blanches them, and freezes them.
To cook, let them thaw, then roast alongside your spuds. No need to parboil.

Peel thin slices with a potato peeler and fry them in hot oil to make celeriac crisps.  Season well with salt and pepper

While it’s still fresh and crisp, remoulade.

Pasta Norma, inspired by reading the latest Donna Leon Brunetti book, and following roughly a Jamie recipe, though without chilli as my wife has an intolerance to them. Lovely. And a first time  for me

Salmon, peas and potato & carrot mash.

Sometimes I just crave for potato & carrot mash, then I don't make it for months or years.

A bucket a bowl of vindaloo, adapted from a Madhur Jaffrey recipe where I've substituted chicken breast for duck legs.

Soup with various other root veg, but that's more of an autumn thing.

Cheese and crackers and a Spanish platter thing with olives and charcuterie from Lidl. Mrs Pcolbeck has flue and I'm pleasing myself and the dog (she's very fond of cheese).
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Nothing.  I am trying to do the 5:2 diet.  It's not working.  I fast for 2 days and eat cake for 5 days.

A Liddle feast as Mrs Pcolbeck is ill and doesnt want anything.

Alpen Fest German bean and bacon stew and lemon cheese cake to follow washed down with a very acceptable red.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Having signed up for Pong cheese mostly delivery we have eaten an excellent organic "Wyfe of Bath" see soft hard cheese with a few other ordinary Waitrose cheese and a Rutherford ranch Rose we bought 2 years ago at the winery.

The cheese really put all the others to shame and showed the stark difference between real cheese and industrial cheese.

I think I might have become a cheese snob.

David brought home a sandwich he'd been given FREE by the staff on the last train of the day yesterday. (He was returning from Didcot and this train originated in Penzance.) GWR.

It was hummus and salad leaves with Moroccan harissa sauce on softgrain bread - a vegan item.

It was really nice! David agreed.

Sandwiches on trains have come a long way...

Some reheated stuff we prepared for Wednesday -  a recipe from the Lidl website. It was OK but we did too much. I feel pretty bloated now.
Oh, Bach without any doubt. Bach every time for me.

A grilled steak & bowl of salad.  (Don't know why I put cucumber in, I always leave half of it.)   Strawberries & Greek yoghurt.   A 2016 Chateau Savariaud .  Noriko Ogawa playing Debussy.

Half a rump steak and a very nice Malbec with a salad. Why half a steak? Well Mrs Pcolbeck wanted to go to the plant nursery at Castle Howard and dropped me and Tilly the dog off a few miles away to walk round the outside of the grounds. I was tasked with buying steak once I got there for me and the boy (who comes home on Sundays for tea). Went into the farm shop and asked for two nice big thick rump steaks for a BBQ. The butcher went off and came back with half a cow and sliced two enormous steaks off it. That will be £30 please! Mind you they were 28 day aged local Aberdeen Angus and the combined weight was 1.Kg, so absolutely enormous. Mrs Pcolbeck would just have said too big, but of course I just swallowed and said thanks.
So chopped one in half and that still made two enormous steaks. The dog was very pleased. I will have to freeze the other half.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.
