irn-bru
« on: May 10, 2008, 07:47:55 pm »
For some reason I like irn-bru a lot. Never got on with any kind of coke, fanta, sprite as I find them too sweet, go figure. Irn-bru is great after a long ride or as the first drink the day after a few too many.

But the main weirdness with irn-bru is that I burp no end where as with other soft drinks I don't, now why is that ?

I dunno, but popular culture says Irn-Bru's market is mainly hungover Scotsmen; it's supposed to be quite a good remedy.

Burplegum!  I got a taste for it while dodging the buckfast zombies last year...

Dammit now I'm plagued by a suit of armour made from irn bru cans.  This-is-irn-bru, diddle-iddle-iddle-dum IRN BRU!
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Irn Bru's the best hangover cure ever, but it does make me very burpy as well.

I lived on diet Irn Bru when I worked in Glasgow. It did not make me burp.
IIRC it has a significant caffeine content.

I think fructose + caffeine are supposed to be good for a hangover.

Why did I read that as "irn bru and cold meat pies went through me at university"?

And girders.

Irn Bru have had some of the most amusing and innovative adverts over the years as well. Lots of them are on youtube.

It's funny stuff. I can go one year to the next without drinking it, but when I gets the urge there is no substitute.

I'm a bit like that with Irn-Bru: if I have some in a particular year, it's usually several more years before I can face it again.
