Secretly, Cameron exists solely on a diet of nothing but Eton mess, a dessert concocted from strawberries, cream, meringue, mess and pieces of digestives left over from the historic "biscuit game", still played in Eton dormitories on the day of the costly school's annual cricket contest against Winchester College. But, typically, while Cameron guzzles the mess of the elite, he expects you and I to suck our nourishment from the dirt.

Oy! I like Eton mess.

Always wondered where the slight saltiness came from.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

Isn't it supposed to be 8 anyway, but they went with 5 as they thought no-one would even try if 8 were suggested?

I'm sure I've seen 9 recommended in India, which might tend to confirm 8.
A cup of tea is the perfect bridge between real life and cake.

Eton Mess = Pavlova + hammer innit?
Meringue, whipped cream & soft summer fruits or
a meringue?

It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

There is an argument to be had over whether it should contain sherry...

I don't mind either way.   ;D

If the current crop is anything to go by, everything coming out of Eton can make a Mess.

Eton has produced some good guys:

George Orwell
Percy Shelly
Humphry Lyttelton

For example.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Is Eton Mess a bit like a naval soggy biscuit?

See suggestion above, quoted by nicknack from article linked in OP.  Not biscuit, obv, but meringue in this case.
