Any big rides planned for 2021?!!
« on: 20 December, 2020, 05:06:43 pm »
A general question - So much of my riding calendar of Audax and ultra-endurance events were cancelled this year. I wonder what people are considering next year, maybe if only in the hope the current situation improves.

Migla1001 has been pushed back to August 2001; though with LEL effectively cancelling (as far as ai am aware), not sure this will happen either.

Plenty of emails coming through the inbox with 'planned sportives of 2021' - which would be great if they happened, though not expecting they will.

Apologies if this comes across a negative just before the end of the year; I guess it is the inability to plan ahead that is causing that (if any).

Comments welcome purleese...

FYI, there already is the 2021 long events thread that covers this.

For information purposes, I'm optimistic that the LEJOG 1400 will go ahead as planned in July 2021. At least 2 of the 4 overnight controls are happy to accommodate us after seeing my social distancing proposals. Next year's event now appears in the AUK calendar and we've updated the event website accordingly (link attached). Next year's LRM calendar is also lurking about somewhere - the LEJOG 1400 and my Inverness 1200 are the only 2 listed for the UK.

I have started planning  my own rides for 2021 , some long diys,.
My thinking is its my best chance to do some long rides, looking at the current situation in the uk and Europe, i would be amazed if anything long distance events run in 2021.  For organized events 2022 could be your best hope.

I’m going to focus on TTs.  The ACME 1000 in September may be a target for me.  It’s a 12 mile ride to the start so planning is minimal.

Nothing too long... I'd like to do an Elenith lookalike, but without the hassle of having to actually do 300 km.
I was thinking to drive to Rhayader, then cycle down to Beulah, then cross the Cambran mountains to Tregaron, then down to Aberystwith, then back via Devils Bridge and the Elan valley... it's kind of 150 km of idyllic cycling
