Plastic thumb screws
« on: 06 August, 2023, 10:37:31 pm »
I have a solar filter for a long lens. I now have a long lens that has a smaller diameter than the first one. So, instead of getting a new solar filter at c£80 I am looking to get longer plastic thumbscrews to fit to it, so I can use my existing one. I asked the suppliers about the spec of the thumbscrews and they said this:

The plastic screws are 1024 x .75". So you will need a longer 1024 x 1.00"

Does that make sense, and where could I get some...?

I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Postage and packing £24.68  :o

I shall contact them and ask if that is right.

Can you use something like this:  https://www.modelfixings.co.uk/nylon_screws.htm#unc%20nylon%20binder

Order placed, although I had to order two packs as the total was below their minimum order. They are on holiday, so 2 weeks to wait  ;D

Proper old school suppliers

Every time I look at this, I think about thumbscrews as torture instruments.
