I need to make the hole in the top of a seatpost ever so slightly wider to take an M8 bolt - it was designed for an M6, I think. In any case, the new bolt only just doesn't fit. What's the safest way to do this?

It's aluminium, btw.

I will say no to drilling.

Half round needle file, then polish out with wet and dry wrapped tightly and taped round a pencil.

That's what I was wary of.

The method you suggest sounds good. I'll try that. Cheers.

Strokes of the file in one direction working around the hole evenly, it's not a saw.

Keep trying it for fit as you go, when you get very close then go at it with the emery paper.
