I have had waffles, not cake, today, but I think a cake may be called for for dessert this evening.
German cakes are more creamy, less spongy, so when faced with Sachertorte and Schwarzwälderkirschtorte I found myself choosing the waffles for heartiness factor.
Mother-in-law is cooking me a proper birthday cake for when we get home from Germany on Wednesday. It will have chocolate buttons on top.
