Removing Paint from a Saddle

Several months ago, I was given a Flite Gel saddle in very good condition. But it had been painted, although much of the paint was worn off. I'd like to remove the paint and restore the saddle to its original black without damaging it.
Any ideas?

It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Assuming it's leather:
