Narrow gauge Hub dynamos?
« on: 12 October, 2008, 09:56:51 pm »
Do I and I recall seeing that either S.O.N. or somebody else had done a hub dynamo that was narrow enough to fit a Brompton front wheel?
Not sure if I am right or misheard but does anybody have information on owt?

Just like a SON...but smaller.

It takes the same spoke lengths as any modern Brompton, and should be built x2 non-interlaced.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

Note that it's not just smaller, it's designed for the higher revs of small wheels.

Dahon do a Joule hub dynamo, narrow enough to fit a Brompton.  Reports are that it works well, is quite cheap but may have a weird number of spokes (22 from memory?).

If I went for it I would ask Uncle Ben at Kinetics ti build me a wheel round it. Trouble is, as always, the cost!
