New May Day Audax for 2017 - London/Home Counties

New for 2017, 1st May Bank Holiday Monday 200km and 100km from Ruislip, West London (Chiltern Line from Marylebone / Wycombe) Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Central Lines from Central London. Easy access by car via M3, M4, M40, M1 and M25 to the A40. Mainly in the Chilterns with the 200km also going down to Surrey and Hants as it crosses no less than 7 counties!

my first mentored event (although iddu did almost all the hard work!) I expect I'll be on the 200 after a little light relief (geddit?) on the IOW the day before

And thanks to Iddu as well. Plotting the route and testing all of the variations took some time as it is, deliberately, not a typical Chiltern route so as to offer something a little alternative to the usual routes. In particular, I wanted it to be an accessible ride for all types of rider so none of those Crong/Small Dean/Abbey Barn/Juniper type of low gear grimaces involved!

Unfortunately, Funk's irregular rhythms don't really work for cycling, although I often think of Parliament's 'UP FOR THE DOWN STROKE' when out of the saddle on a steep climb.

Rode the CCBB 200km route on Saturday, first 2017 route check and all looking good.

Meanwhile, if you check out the Twitter feed you'll see that Jim Cope from Audax Club Hackney is proposing doing the 200km Boat Ride Perm on 18th February, starting in Uxbridge, which a few of us are thinking of doing......it's a RRTY thing.
