Another bike made by a jeweller
« on: 09 February, 2009, 10:22:16 am »
Georg Jensen, probably best known in Scandanavia for jewellery, has come up with this:-

Quote
The surface of the bicycle resembles the handmade hammered surface of the unique silver hollowware pieces created and made by Georg Jensen himself 100 years ago. These hammer marks is today the epitome of Georg Jensen and still a very important part of the way the Georg Jensen silverware is made. The Georg Jensen bicycle has a handmade sterling silver plated bell. The wonderful leather grips and saddle are made by Brooks England, who is renowned for their high standard bicycle accessories, The bicycle is designed and produced in close cooperation between Georg Jensen and Danish Søren Sögreni who have built a reputation for unique and contemporary designed bicycles. Dedicated to design, quality and craftsmanship first the Sögreni design concept fits hand in glow with Georg Jensen.

I'd like to see some close ups. It looks nice and clean, and the rear rack has an interesting shape - but is it worth $5500? It doesn't even have gears or brake levers!

The chain may be right as a gnat's chuff, but I'm not liking the angle of that saddle...

The saddle is rather jaunty.

You can tell that from one small picture?  I'm impressed.

That frame looks nothing special at all.  An interesting case study for the thread on aesthetics.

A quick google suggests that they are made by Sogreni in Denmark - they seem to be proud of their 'hand made' reputation so I'd guess they're not mass produced hybrids.

As they went to the trouble of fitting mudguards, why not fit some brakes as well? Or would that spoil the "aesthetics" (or cost extra!!!!)

Having the aesthetics of ones faces spoiled in a sudden unplanned stop would be a little distressing I fear.

I want it.

I want it on fire!
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

One of the early Pompey Beer Monsters saw our own dear Rev'd Hummers riding a bike with real bullhorns.  Doubtless somewhere there's a picture...
