...she probably would have been cleared

BBC NEWS | England | London | Driver who fell asleep is jailed

It is astonishing the inconsistency of sentencing for killing people with motor vehicles
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

Not really.

If she had only pleaded not guilty she probably would have been cleared.

She pleaded guilty so there isn't really a question of whether she could have been acquitted of it.  The sentencing seems in the normal range given her guilty plea.

The driver who killed my uncle last year is due in court on the 23rd. He will probably plead guilty to causing death by careless driving, the CPS will accept that as a win and drop the charge of death by dangerous driving, and the questions of whether his lorry was dangerously overloaded and whether his driving was dangerously aggressive won't be tested in court at all. This will piss me off mightily.

The woman deserves some credit for accepting that she was acting dangerously and bears full culpability for the deaths, I think.
