Details and entry forms at http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/bikeride

Anyone interested?

I've never done the GNBR before and I'm tempted by the 'new' 100 mile option but £24 entry!!  :o

I'm assuming it's all on road? It's quite hard to tell (lots of photos of people on knobbly-tyred BSOs last year, but that implies nothing...).

If it is, I'm up for the 50 miles. 100 miles is just too intimidating.

I'll definitely be doing this now.

From the website.

Quote
100 mile ride

This is a new ride based on the popular sportive ride aimed at the more serious cyclist.  The ride will start before the 18 and 50 mile rides.  The route of the ride is currently being finalised but will start at Holme Pierrepont and follow the 50 mile route but then continue into North Nottinghamshire, go west to Sherwood Forest and then south via Ollerton and Southwell before rejoining the 50 mile route.
Maps of the route will be available shortly.

Presumably the route will be marshaled making navigation a breeze. As well as going someway towards justifying the cost of the entry fee.

Don't ask.

I could be tempted by this as well, I have had a ride-around-Nottingham plan for a while and tomorrow I am going to try a route out Long Eaton-Kegworth-East then West Leake -Wysall-Widmerpool-Langar-Scarington-Gunthorpe-Lowdham-Oxton-Newstead Abbey-Annesley-Underwood-Eastwood-Ikea-Awsworth-Cossall-Trowell-Stapleford-Bramcote and home.
If all goes to plan it should be a nice ride round, about 70 miles I reckon, perhaps a little more, and a ride worth repeating in the summer. If anyone is interested?

I've taken the plunge and upgraded from the 50 mile to the 100 mile ride.

Are any other yACFers going to be there? Can I tag along if there are - this'll be my first ride over 100km. Ever.

I was tempted too, but £24... errr... I can make many 100 Mi routes around Nottingham for far less.

Seems pretty good value to me. Marshalling, refreshment stops, 'entertainment', contribution to charidee - plus compared to MTB enduros this is cheap (if your background is audax, YMM(verywell)V)

It's the marshaling that did it for me, I'm looking forward to a navigation free day.

£24 x the number of riders is a lot of money. No MTB background I'm afraid. Roadie, through and through.

Looks like its going to be windy.  :-\

And wet :-\

I am very likely to DNS this. Especially after the rather damp FNRttC last night. Not sure I want a 5am start to spend the first three hours (at least) in the rain :(

The weather forecast on the bbc website is for sunny intervals.

I don't want to know what it says elsewhere.  ::-)

It is. I plan to be out for 2-3 hours during that spell!

Nope. Definitely pathetic. Could have done it. Should have done it. Didn't.

Another one to add to the 'maybe next time' list.

But if I am right you did do the FNRttC and are probably tired after that so you have an excuse and these things aren't compulsory.

You maybe could have, but I doubt it'd be very enjoyable in this wind.

It's not worth doing if your not going to enjoy it.

That's my excuse anyway.
