Strangely I found a soldiers grave in the grave yard in Shelton when I stpped to sort out a flat.
One single grave belonging to a young Lance Bombardier of the Field Artilery, aged 19 years, killed in 1916.
His parents must have been lucky enough to be able pay to have him repatriated, or perhaps he died of his wounds when he got home. So many of the more recent graves looked like abandoned over elaborate tat, his was a simple small marker of stone among the long grass.
