A photo of myself and George (my OH) at the top of the Tourmalet. It's not a recent photo, can't remember the exact year but it was sometime in the 90's

July 2007. I'm on the left. My born-to-be-a-climber mate had been there a long enough to be bored when I arrived with the camera. ;D

Looks impossibly steep there.  You''d have to be a bit of a cock to try & ride it.

EDIT:  Dang!  He turned the photo.  Much less fun ;)

Woolly on his soon-to-be-broken-into-bits Dahon Speed Pro. He rode up and down the Tourmalet (and Luz Ardiden, and Hautacam, and the Col de Boucharo, and...) on this ickle bike. Much to the consternation of everyone we met.  ;D

Me 'n' Woolly in summer 2008, in rather challenging conditions!

And earlier that holiday, in rather nicer conditions (and with company).

Gendarmes being officious and not letting all the spectators go down the Tourmalet, ages after the Tour has long passed through.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

I see.  I couldn't think why they might be making a line like that.

standard practice on big descents to avoid too many riders going around the hairpins at a time; they did the same after an accident on the Glandon on the 2006 Marmotte; took about an hour to get everyone down.

Wish I'd asked the guy who took it to include the bike!
