Book recommendation please

Back in the day, my Father in Law did a bit of track cycling. He's in his late 70s, so "the day" would have been 1950s - 1960s.

Any recommendations for a book about track cycling from that era? We thought it would be a better Christmas present than a bottle of Bristol Cream.

Isn't there a Reg Harris biog?

"Tomorrow We Ride" by Jean Bobet is of that era, and mentions some track racing iirc.

Tony Hewson's book - "In Pursuit of Stardom" is full of names he'll recall.

"Bikie" by Charlie Woods may revive some memories as well.

Anything about the lives of either Hugh Porter or Norman Sheil would keep him busy.

Slightly earlier than you suggest but this is a good read...

"It Wasn't That Easy: The Tommy Godwin Story"
published in 2007 by John Pinkerton Memorial Publishing Fund so a good cause if you can get a copy

A bit of feedback. We plumped for "In Pursuit of Stardom".  FiL has just been on the phone. It's the best Christmas present he's ever had.

Score one to the YACF massive, and a bonus point to Giropaul.
