Yes, that's very sad.  This link shows him in characteristic pose, with, I think Gareth Edwards

Very sad indeed. A great player whose career was cut short by a brain haemorrhage which occurred during a Swansea match.

That is indeed the incomparable Mr. Edwards alongside him, Peter.

Edit: it's just occurred to me that tomorrow will be an immensely emotional occasion - even more than it would have been.

Very sad, that's both my boyhood heroes gone, Merve the Swerve and Andy Ripley.
I'm gonna limp to the pub and drink 'til the rest of me is as numb as my arse.

RIP Merve the Serve.  You were one of the greats.  I'll raise a glass to you tomorrow.

Walesonline need a slap,  that picture is captioned "Mervyn Davies in action for Wales" when clearly they are wearing British Lions shirts

I've met his daughter. She worked in the same building as us in Swansea. My boss came in to the office with her one day, having chatted with her in the corridor. "Boys, boys - this is Mervyn Davies's daughter!" I think she was a little embarrassed.

A fair spot pychler, but Wales pretty much were the British Lions in those days.  There were some token non-Welsh so that the games wouldn't be too one-sided!

Umm, 1974 Lion Tour [when that pic was taken], the party comprised 9 Welsh players... and 9 English, 8 Irish and 6 Scots.

OK, so 23 token non-Welsh players - money must have changed hands! :)

It depends on exactly who was starting for the Lions XV!

Bless Mervyn, 65 is far too young. I hope that Ray has a pint of Brains ready for him.
