Geologising. Tromso was a stop on the way to Spitsbergen from Oslo (in that airplane). We picked up a boat in Tromso and spent the next month living on it.
Ah! Another saxophone-playing geoscientist?
I was then, briefly. Now I'm just saxophone playing.
I spent the early years of my career geologising on boats - but for engineering studies, not petroleum. But that was 40 years before I launched into learning to play the sax. Good fun though, chucking side scans, boomers, maggies and various bottom samplers off the arse end of workboats, and living on Dutch coffee.
