Freaky cake recipes
« on: 23 August, 2012, 02:03:10 pm »
It's Cake Club day at the office tomorrow and I'm baking tonight.  I want to do something different.

I have a mind to do an apple and feta cake.  Or maybe even a vegan chocolate avocado cake.  Julian makes a kick-ass Chocolate beetroot cake and that's my gold standard.

Anyone got any better WTF freaky-cake recipes?

I make a very good Chocolate Guinness cake, and also find that Welsh Rarebit Muffins go down well. PM me if you want either recipe.

Are you familiar with "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World".  I'm not a cake fan, but these are delicious.  Personally like the ginger ones, but there are some freaky recipes such as Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcakes or Lychee Cupcakes with Coconut Glaze.  I could PM you the recipes if you haven't got a copy of the book.

No recipe ideas, but well done for working in an office that's enlightened enough to have a Cake Club.

Barstids! I want some cake NOW!, but as this is one of my fasting days I can't have any.

+1 to courgette cake. Yum-city.

Only if I am allowed to come down there and try some.  That sounds yummy.  Sort of like the dark choc with chilli in that you get.  Goes best with a short, dark, strong coffee.

It's exactly like that.  I made some for friends' wedding recently and it was delish.

Going around the ward staff at the moment seems to be a glut of German Friendship Cake. You get given the mix and have to feed and grow your cake mix for a few days, then before you cook it you divide it into four and give, in my case, two mix's away, cook one, and start the process again with the other. Very nice cake it is as well

Having just seen your baking tonight its not much use to you, although you can start something that keeps going. There always seems to be Herman cake on the ward these days

Freaky cakes need freaky decorations.

On second thoughts, perhaps not.

Cake club day?! What a frigging awesome idea - there's a few people here (myself included) that take great pleasure in the baking and eating of goodies... must put it on the agenda of the next staff meeting.

I'm a bit late to the party but how about spinach cake? See link. http://www.turkishcookbook.com/2007/01/spinach-cake.php. It's a shocking green colour but tastes amazing.
