Just had a call from the R.B of Scotland to say that they are sending me a new card as the current one has been cloned.
This has happened during the last 6 months, they also confirm the police are investigating and that there is no loss from my account.
 Ticket to N.Z will have to wait then...

Dammit and I thought there was another truculent arborist roaming northern France in your place.  That would have been an unacceptable abuse of genetic manipulation  :D

IME Royal Bank of Scotland act so quickly with incidences of card cloning that the inconvenience is minimal and you can get everything back to normal within 10 days or less.
Hard luck old chap! It could be much worse...

RBS now also have a fraud alert scheme which can contact your mobile phone.

Coincidence. Natwest have just stopped my Debit card because I used it in a compromised ATM. I might get a new one before the weekend. Perhaps it was the vast amounts of money spent on food and booze in Scotland last week that made them suspicious.

Anyone here I can sponge off?

Sometimes RBS can be too clever - twice when I've been in New York they've stopped me getting cash "because we get a lot of fraud from NY we did call you"

Yes they called me at home (they have my mobile) to ask if I was in New York at 2am. Fortunately my wife was able to sleep through it or I'd have been even more pissed off
