Moving to Win11 without a Microsoft Account
« on: 13 May, 2024, 10:35:50 am »
I never used a Microsoft account on Windows 10. My needs are simple, (mostly LibreOffice, Obsidian and Brave) and are still well-served by a Lenovo ThinkCentre wth 8 gigs of RAM and an i5-8400T 1.7 GHz CPU.

How do I migrate to Win11 while keeping things as simple as possible?

On a fresh install, the trick seems to be to completely deprive the computer of internet access until it's fully set up with a local account (which it will make as difficult as possible).  Not sure if that would work for an upgrade...

My W11 upgrade completed successfully without a MS account - I think you need Pro, and it is not possible on home

That's good to know. I've got Pro.
