Indeed.

Mr Sachs, Brand and Ross aside, I fail to see how this is going to damage the carreer of La Baillie who when pressed by the press for comment said something along the lines of "...I am not making any comment until I speak to my Grandpa agent.

P.S.
Does anyone have any dates for The Satanic Sluts nationwide tour yet?

Havant Shopping Precinct, any weekday?.

The corporation said that 4,775 listeners have complained about the broadcast.

I wonder how many of the complaints came from people listening to the show?

Two.

Regardless of whether you think these two are funny or not, the fact remains they did something that for pretty much anyone anywhere would have been Gross Misconduct, and would have seen them escorted to the door and booted out in a forthright manner,

For some reason, that does not appear to be the case here. Why? If it's "because a lot of people find them jolly japes and a good larf", then to my mind, it falls into the same category as those folk who get off driving offenses because a driving ban would harm their career.

Of course - there is also the matter of at least three items in the BBC charter that were violated - breaches now being investigated by Ofcom.

If an elderly man is verbally abused in a forest with no one to hear, does it make a sound?

If a man is elderly, does that make it worse?

Vulnerable, then.  Although he insists the apology is owed to his granddaughter.

Yes but 5000 people listened to it later so they could be offended.

With BBC iPlayer it's possible to arrange being offended to a time that's convenient for you.  It's a real boon for the busy Daily Mail reader.

Which is all very funny, but there is a difference between being outraged at an act of bullying, and going into conniptions at being presented with something you don't want to look at. Indeed, tuning in to be offended, and then complaining, is often presented as ludicrous behaviour, especially when discussing the censorship of images; however, informing yourself about an event you suspect of having been outrageous, to determine whether or not it is worthy of complaint, is not necessarily the absurd action you suggest.

I complained and I've never even seen the footage in question.

But then I despise both Ross and Brand.

Hang on, aren't they both under contract?

They rely on being famous to survive, so why not continue t pay them, but prevent them from doing anything remotely interesting or in public.
Sounds as though the BBC have got a couple of contract toilet cleaners for the next couple of years then.

I'd rather that than have to put up with hearing how much the payoff for sacking them is going to cost.

I like your leftfield theory Liz but I can see one potential flaw:

If you were going to pull a publicity stunt to gain maximum effect, would you use Radio 2 and that pair?   Surely not  :o   ;)

What worries me is the entire and total lack of judgement or taste.

The "excuse" that you feel cocooned and that it tall becomes unreal so you get carried away is risible.

If they have that little sense of judgement, self control or awareness then they are unsuitable for these broadcasting positions.... imagine how they can get carried away next time.....

They might as well carry on as normal then  :-\

Noel Edmonds TV show actually killed and injured people, and there wasn't even as big a fuss over that.

Maybe that's because they were taking part, had signed the waiver, etc?

Don't forget it's got to be believable, so you use a pair of crass attention-seekers.

I mean, nobody would buy it if you used Richard & Judy, would they?

Pressure building

... Ms Baillie, 23, said she felt "betrayed" and "embarrassed" that the relationship had been publicly revealed to her grandfather. She said that he was "really upset, and says he wants the whole situation to end".

She added of Brand and Ross: "They are beyond contempt. They are warped for what they have put me and my grandfather through.

"It was bad enough that they recorded these things on my grandfather's answer machine but astonishing the BBC saw fit to broadcast it when they could have stopped it.

Sniffs blood ...
