(Spinners wipes away a tear)

Not only did our cyclists clean up (coach, team and SPOTY) but didn't they conduct themselves fabulously.

Hoy's applause was as long as Bobby Charlton's!!

Or even better, he can turn it down.

I'd have thought that this would have been a good opportunity for the Beeb to do a serious series on cycling and what to do to become a cyclist. Simon L3 would make the ideal presenter.

Hey, Valiant, you are into the meedja in a big way. Could your outfit do something like this?

Did anybody else struggle to maintain a dry eye during Bobby Charlton's accolade?

Bloody hell.  The bookies will be crying into their beer.

I suspect an organised vote by cyclists - remember how decisively the bicycle won the greatest-ever invention poll?

Fantastic !  Justice at last !

I may be sour but I don't see what "justice" has to do with it. It's the right result, obviously, but still a meaningless competition.

Will it mean we get more respect from numpty motorists on the roads tomorrow morning? Will Clarkson be filling his column with a paean to our great cycling heroes this week? Will it mean I don't have to listen to my colleagues drivelling on about bloody red-light jumping cyclists being a menace on the road ever again?

I would agree, but for the fact that no mention of it has appeared here.

Me. I was a bit moist around the eyes, especially during Jacky Charlton's speech.
