Have just taken delivery of substantial bits of wood for our stove. Including 15"x2" thick oak planks, as cut from the trunk with bark attached, 6"x6" beam of oak, a trunk of oak approx 10" diameter, and a short trunk of birch. Most of it is 4' long. Lots of part turned or ready to turn blanks too.

I'll have to process it and cut them down to stove fitting bits as more is coming!

Before someone says "it could be used to make something" it is full of woodworm. So we're going to make fires with it and keep warm.

Yes, we rode there. Seemed a shame not to, after not being able to get further than Rochester on Friday noght, because of an appointment back in Londonton.

Anyway, we rode there, stayed over with the outlaws, went to Canterbury and surrounding hills to the value of 50km yesterday, and are now sheltering from the rain in a cafe in Otford (Eh? I'm sure it was warm and sunny earlier) en route along the North Downs before popping back over and home.

The last four days will have seen three 100km rides and one 50.

Looking out of the window and pondering change of plans for the intended walk and pub meal with friends. Although mrs graculus and I are not too bothered about the weather there are those in our group who will have a problem with muddy slippery hill sides.

I get that a lot - usually between 9am and 5pm on working days

Currently, I'm trying to decide whether or not to list my now-surplus Mac Mini on fleaBay or try for a 'private' sale ...

You mean you are there and have not been cycling? Tut, tut....

Let me know if you need any recommendations (routes or where to hire from).

TBH though I found Catalonia nicer to cycle in, due to the lack therein of hire cars and foreign (to those shores) drivers.

Due to yet another power outage this morning (I am starting to think we live in a third world country, not North Yorkshire), I am downloading Fedora 17 i686 to try and fix my aging and wheezing DHCP server that decided it really didn't want to boot back up properly after the outage.

Although given that you're drinking gin, maybe it should be called 'Decanter-bury Tales' instead

Reading a rather interesting article in the current issue of Singletrack - it's about trail riding in Torridon.

Let's see - I've not been to Scotland for ages, that part of the country is mind-hurtlingly beautiful even in crap weather and it might make for an interesting Pugsley Proving Ground (or for the soon-to-be-singlespeeded 1x1)

The downside? It's a bloody long way to Applecross, but even so I feel a road trip coming on
