Waiting up and offering words of encouragement to my daughter via the WWW, as she labours away on here history essay.  Her time zone is an hour ahead.

Word count down to 2000. Just page numbers needed for citations.

Have been trying to fix a datacentre outage since 1:00am and I'm on holiday :(
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Spending what should've been a nice annual leave day, tidying up so that an estate agent can come and photograph my house.  So my landlord can sell it.  Which means I'll have to move house.  Again.  FFS.

Wondering what "tax-dogging" is.

It’s when corporations royally fuck ordinary people by not paying their fair share of tax?

Currently, I am multi-tasking - eating my dinner and wrestling with SenseTalk, a 'programming' language which describes itself as 'a highly readable, English-like scripting language', so I can get our Indian team's scripts to talk to my networked logging system. Before they start work tomorrow

Readable it may be, but writing it is a monumental pain in the arse - there's so much syntactic sugar that I needed to take my medication before I started working with it. In other words, it's generally fucking awful if you're used to 'real' programming languages.

On the plus side, it's nice to be doing an all-nighter again and I get to have a lie-in tomorrow as a result  ;D

Isn't the canonical response to make as much of a mess as you possibly can? So that the photos look shit, so your landlord can't sell, so you don't have to move?

Of course, if you either like your landlord or dislike the house, this may not be rational behaviour.

Section 21 notice and losing your deposit means you clean that stuff up. And play nice. At least it does in this house.

Anyway, I couldn't/can't sleep again, so I'm looking at bike luggage. It's a bit meh, except this:

and I can't really see me managing to persuade Mr Smith that this will help us up the devils armpit or whatever monster climbs it is in a fortnight.
If anyone tells me to just get a Carradice I will make them sleep in its mouldy crumb infested cotton duck. While swinging from a tree. From their leather bar tape.

There's nothing on there that is suitable for our needs.
No velcro- velcro destroys shorts. There's not much room on my seatpost anyway as it has suspension. I want rack mounted, have pockets/ dividers, be expandable, rigid yet light.  I can wield a sewing machine, it might come to that.
£126 for velcro, webbing and a dry bag? You're having a laff.

http://www.pennineoutdoor.co.uk/fabrics - have at it. They seem to have expanded their range to fittings and whatnot since I last looked.

I did consider going down the MYOG route a while back for bikepacking gear, and I know of a few people who have with varying degrees of success, but given that I can wreak havoc with something as simple as a screwdriver, putting me in charge of something with moving parts and stabby bits would likely end up with me being stitched to the table.

Or worse.

Import duty, innit?
Alpkit do the same sort of stuff for less money.
Or rather, they would if they ever had it in stock.

Arkel Tailrider would fail on the velcro and not costing silly money tests, unfortunately.  Which is a shame, as it's quite sexy by the (admittedly fairly low) standards of rack bags.

Not sure what you're doing with the velcro that shorts damage is an issue thobut?  I'm assuming limited arse to bag clearance, combined with sproingy seatpost...

Fat thighs innit. Velcro rack attachments eat my shorts (as I think someone yellow once said).

In spooky coincidence style, someone got on the train this morning with this very bag.
