Trying the hot-water+whisky thing to ease a cough that's kept me awake for most of the night.

Mrs. Wow and I have prepared enormous quantities of lamb stew, only for a significant proportion of our guests to drop out with illness.

Son-in-law has the squits, as affected younger daughter on Christmas Day.

Nephew, who is a Dr. in A & E, appears to have affected his ma & bro with swine flu.

So there are now just 6 of us for industrial quantities of stew & dumplings, which will be enjoyed after a lovely sea wall walk.

At least the weather is perfect: little wind (here at least - could be breezy on the mud flats), frosty and sunny.

So we are awaiting the arrival of not so many guests as we had hoped.

Wasting time until we have to go and visit relatives in an hour or so.

And thinking how i would much rather go for a ride now that the frost has gone, get home and sit listening to music while sipping a large glass of single malt in front of the wood burning stove.

Sitting in my parents dining room, browsing the net, and watching the box, looking for something novel to watch. Currently on "The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain", which is a good enough film, but I saw it quite recently, so don't really need a repeat.

I need a bicycle here, but it's also tipping down, so it's not really currently pleasant cycling weather anyway.

It was Garmin, the most obvious cycling-related item on my desk.

I haven't got the stomach for cake. Or, perhaps I've got a stomach which is the produce of too much cake, and beer, and turkey, and pudding etc.

Trying to work out the calorie and nutritional content of a Delia vegetarian shepherd's pie on fitday.com, and waiting to hear bad news. My friend's been called into hospital to say goodbye to her dad, who has been ill for a while with nobody knows what and has taken a sudden deterioration.

It's awful. He went into hospital in August and they couldn't work out what was wrong with him, and he's just got worse and worse. He got home for a few days in September but ended up going straight back in, and when I spoke to my friend last night, she said she'd noticed a massive deterioration in him yesterday.
