Just finishing off my cup of coffee before bed.
Had some malted milks to dunk in it today. Not a good dunker i think, no time to relax when you dunk, have to be in and out quickly. They are a strong biscuit though.

Sitting in a restaurant in Hong Kong airport. Flight has been delayed due to bad weather in Europe. Am abusing the free coffee refills the restaurant offers, so am now totally wired.

Try lying on your back with your head in the grate and looking up there with a torch - you should be able to get a "close enough" measurement from visual inspection. Good idea to wear safety goggles if you do that though.

Oh, I can't measure things visually, I have no spatial perception at all. I'd order one 3 miles by half an inch, or something equally stupid. I'll think about it at the weekend.

Yebbut in my experience chimney balloons only come in small, medium and large, so you only need an approximate measurement anyway.

Having said that, I did manage to end up with one that is far too big for my tiny chimney. Still does the job, though.
