Thanks all.
This is what I sent to friends tonight:
Thanks for your kind wishes, everyone. Here is a link to some photos from today. I've just gone down to have a look at the water and it is now at the top step of the steps down to the pontoon - and it's low tide! I've never seen it that high in the 22 years I've been in this building. The river is so wide, it reminds me of Bangkok for some reason!
West End pictures - Day 1There's a couple of pictures that look rural - I took these yesterday when I was out to look at our potential new home in Lowood. It was high and dry unlike the other ones we were considering in Forest Hill and Laidley although many of the roads to Lowood were cut by the floodwaters that came down from Toowoomba.
If the forecast is correct the water here may get to the level of the swimming pool over night or tomorrow morning and could peak around the level of the roof of the car port between the pool and the building (ceiling of the ground floor/ foyer level) on Thursday and maybe stay until Saturday. This would be a metre or two higher than 1974 and mean that the basement will be filled with floodwater. I hope the forecast is wrong.
The pontoon is still there, though not much is visible. While I was down there, another 3 pontoons floated past - that's 69 that I've seen today plus 2 cabin cruisers!
The car is now moved up the hill and the basement is cleared. Water bottles, buckets and bath are filled with water (ironic eh?), mobile phone is charged and new batteries in the torches and radio so I'm set.
I'll take some more pictures in the morning.
I hope that those of you in the same boat (pun intended) are coping ok.
