Athleteshop

On May 1st I ordered a bike lock from Athleteshop
They emailed me to say I should have it by May 8th, and i'd get a shipping notification before then.
Then they emailed to say May 10th
Then they emailed to say May 14th
On May 14th I hadn't even had a shipping notification, so it obviously wasn't going to turn up.  I contacted them to say that I absolutely needed it by May 20th so if they couldn't 100% guarantee it would arrive before then, I'd like to cancel.
I got a reply in Dutch saying that they were expecting them at the warehouse on May 18th and they'd post me one then.
There's obviously no way they can guarantee getting it to me by Saturday 19th if they only 'expect' to get it the day before that, so that was a load of dutch b0ll0x.

Don't use this website!

Agree, I have ordered a tyre from there and have had two emails apologising for the delay and saying I can expect to receive it on $DATE. Both $DATEs have been and gone.

So I have asked to cancel, and am going to now find out whether they have taken the money and if so get it back.

I've looked at them for tyres - they have quite a prominent web presence...

All a bit grim judging from recent comments here:  https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/athleteshop.co.uk

I ordered a pair of tyres from them. They sent the wrong ones. I contacted them and they sent the right ones and said I could keep the wrong ones. I sold those for more than I paid. Mildly shambolic. Wouldn't use again or recommend.

Ask credit card company for a chargeback, that's what I'm going to do if I don't hear within a couple of days.

They sometimes have amazing prices for things they don't stock.

I found they cancelled and refunded efficiently when I encountered this.

I emailed and asked for a refund:
"Are you sure you would like a refund, or would you like us to send the product as we expect to be getting stock of it on the xxth of June."
"No, refund please." [I've had at least 3 emails saying, sorry, it's been delayed, but is expected on the xxth of April/May/June]
"Are you sure you would like a refund or would you like a gift voucher to the value of 10% more than your order?"
"No, refund please."

What a crap shop.

10 days went past and still haven't received promised refund.
Phoned bank to ask for chargeback.
Bank claim that if a refund was promised, to raise the dispute they need confirmation of the last 4 digits of the card the refund was promised to.
I say I haven't got this, and protest that I shouldn't have to rely on the retailer because their communication is poor.
Bank says not to worry and they'll be happy to phone them for me to obtain this while I'm on hold.
I give order number to bank and wait while they phone Athleteshop.
Bank gives up waiting in queue to speak to Athleteshop.
Bank, having had my point about them being poor communicators proven to them, promises refund overnight tonight.

Very big thumbs up to the bank, can thoroughly recommend firstdirect, it's at times when things go wrong I am glad I am with them, they get things sorted where lesser banks would quibble.

Just a bump really to remind people to: *** AVOID Athleteshop! ***
