Author Topic: My avatar has started to appear on my email web browser - how come?  (Read 515 times)

As above, my avatar which features on this forum and on LFGSS, and I'm pretty sure nowhere else, has manifested itself on my emails when I view them in a web-based browser.
Yahoo - seeing as you are asking.
I know both the cycling fora have my email address - but that's not publically viewable.
What's going on there, then?

Is it linked to Gravatar? Gravatar is supposed to be a global avatar service, so you can have one avatar there, and different sites can use it.

Not linked to anything.
Actually, it has just occurred to me that it does also appear on my flickr account, which is part of Yahoo / Oath (surely there is irony in that second name)... I think I have just answered my own question...

I've noticed that Yahoo and Google have been associating things that normally are not connected.

Example: Do you use a gmail address associated with this forum? If so, they will know your forum name and the AI could associate your name with the avatar after spidering the site (hence why most forums have 10 active users, 22 guests and 55 bots).
