It's a BRM event so a fixed 75h time limit applies, no allowance for over-distance.

Yeah, it's 75 hours.

And don't forget 4-5 km of the extra distance is a ferry. I've ridden 200s with more overdistance than that :)

I'm starting to make plans for this, working on the theory that no matter what the government guidance on the apocalypse is by then, there's a significant chance I'll be self-isolating on the bike for 3 days anyway so no reason it won't go ahead. :D

I'm stockpiling jelly babies just in case there's a run on them between now and 7th May. Any chance the scaremongers might cancel the Greenock ferry? ::-)

Thanks Dean,  I'm not worried, just getting some kind of schedule together and wanted to be sure on the 75hrs
No point in performing an ITT for the last 10k when you don't need to. DAMHIKT

<Looks at calendar>

<looks at waistline>
...

Any chance of putting this back a month Deano? Or two maybe ...
I'd like to point out that - between named storms - I have actually ridden my bike shitloads since this post.

SO if you are planning to cancel this event - El Deano - I may have to deploy my MkIII Paddington Stare. You've been warned!

I've had to postpone this event - I've emailed all the entrants, and I'll look for a date to organise it later in the year.

Bit of a pisser, but I can't see how it can go ahead at the moment.

I am aware this event is postponed, but I've been sent information about overnight use of the pedestrian tunnel under the Tyne which may be of use for the ride's new date, or of use to anyone riding overnight in the area.

Outside of virus restrictions, the normal overnight service is a shuttle bus which can take bikes.

That situation is planned to remain until the refurbishments are 100 percent completed, which given the history of the project, could be years.

During virus restrictions, the shuttle bus has been replaced by a taxi service, which cannot take bikes.

Thinking about this today as I'd be travelling up to stay at my father's tonight. Although a little tongue-in-cheek, my comment above didn't age well did it? Would be grateful to just visit my father at the moment, let alone ride round the country. Oh well.

Yeah :(

I reckon most of you would've crossed the border by now, and a few would even be through Dumfries to the control at Castle Douglas.

Dunno when the rearranged date will be yet, but there will be one. The hills and coasts'll still be there.

Ah tomorrow would have been the brief flirtation with the young tay, fresh out the Loch to Aberfeldy.

For reasons that will soon become obvious locals usually surmize the following poem about the Firth of Tay (the Fjord that runs from somewhere East of Perth out to the Bell Rock) as:
The Tay, the Tay, the Silvery Tay,
That flows from Perth to Dundee every day.

Anyway... courtesy of the one and thankfully only Wm Topaz McGonagall, I give you

A Descriptive Poem on the Silvery Tay

Beautiful silvery Tay,
With your landscapes, so lovely and gay,
Along each side of your waters, to Perth all the way;
No other river in the world has got scenery more fine,
Only I am told the beautiful Rhine,
Near to Wormit Bay, it seems very fine,
Where the Railway Bridge is towering above its waters sublime,
And the beautiful ship Mars,
With her Juvenile Tars,
Both lively and gay,
Does carelessly lie
By night and by day,
In the beautiful Bay
Of the silvery Tay.
Beautiful, beautiful! silvery Tay,
Thy scenery is enchanting on a fine summer day,
Near by Balmerino it is beautiful to behold,
When the trees are in full bloom and the cornfields seems like gold –
And nature’s face seems gay,
And the lambkins they do play,
And the humming bee is on the wing,
It is enough to make one sing,
While they carelessly do stray,
Along the beautiful banks of the silvery Tay,
Beautiful silvery Tay, rolling smoothly on your way,
Near by Newport, as clear as the day,
Thy scenery around is charming I’ll be bound…
And would make the heart of any one feel light and gay on a fine summer day,
To view the beautiful scenery along the banks of the silvery Tay.

---

And this
Was one of his better ones...
