Tacx Shiva 500/750ml Pro Team Water Bottle - Between £2 and £4

Doing my last miscellaneous bits shop I decided to get some water bottles as some of mine have inevitably gone walkabout. Frustratingly, my grubbiest seem to stubbornly stay in the house while my nice ones I bought in Mallorca have disappeared...

I came across these https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BOTACXTE/tacx-shiva-pro-team-water-bottle and took a punt on two Astana 750 ml ones (in part because I like their rap song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMIv5Dsmuf8 ). £4 each. What tipped the balance was that they're by Tacx who I know make quality bike gubbins. I've had Tacx bottles before (and lost them...) so jumped at the deal.

They're good bottles. I'm not someone who would spend more than £4 on a bottle as I tend to lose them all the time, but I'm very happy with these. They've got a really good spout thing (the bit you pull out with your teeth), the plastic is easily-squeezed, the lid is convenient to remove as it's got sculpted bits to get a grip on and I think they look pretty nice. 750 ml is a good size for me, as it's either big enough that just one is good for a short ride, and two gives you a hefty 1.5 litres in liquid storage. You may want to investigate using a problem solver type bottle cage height adapter if you want a 750ml one. They just about work with my 56 cm frame with the seat tube bottle kind of tucked in under the frame bag but it is a bit of a squeeze.

Tacx have been doing the Shiva for a while. Interestingly it seems some pro riders have criticised how leak-proof they are, wanting them to instead burst into pieces if run over from a safety standpoint https://www.bikeradar.com/news/tacx-defends-shiva-water-bottle/

Not sure I'd pay for shipping for just the bottles but if you're on the market for other bike stuff I think it's worth it. You can get a 500 ml one for £2 if you choose the SEG paint option.

Also available from Wiggle (£2.40 for 500 ml but no painted decor https://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-shiva-500ml-bottle/ ) or £3 for 750 ml ( silver/see-through-white https://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-shiva-750ml-bottle/ ).

They did indeed change their design a while (several years) ago to include a 'pop' top that comes off if ridden over.

The downside to them is the narrow neck which makes adding powder more spillage-prone and hinders cleaning.
