Are you ready for Christmas?
« on: December 24, 2019, 01:32:50 am »
Yes.  The "Are you ready for Christmas" query that is posed to you eleventy times a day by check out staff, butchers, drunken farmers lying on the floor of your local, neighbours, other dog emptiers that know your dog's name but not yours, barbers, posties, etc etc.

I've finally found the answer.

" Yes. I've been ready since last Christmas "
And retreat while they're still trying to work out what that means.      ;D

Hey Basil - you'll like this . . . all the Christmas trees that the German market used in Brum are being given away today (the market finished yesterday and presumably all the naff wooden stuff and dubious gluwein is on the way back across the channel) - see what you're missing having emigrated to Wales!

... and yes about the question - remind me not to get a haircut the week befor Christmas next year - I wasn't asked where I was going on holiday though

I'm more worried about the Africans. I mean, what if they don't even know it's Christmas?

In an art-imitating-life kind of way, I find myself alone in the house on Christmas Eve whilst everyone else* has buggered off to the pub. It'a actually rather nice. I will sit in Phyllis's old room with a cup of coffee, do the crossword and then go for a stroll around the park, thereby thinking of absent friends...

*Including Jan. They have gone to put up Christmas decorations. I wasn't invited.
Oh, Bach without any doubt. Bach every time for me.

We did the wretched tree yesterday.  Groan, moan.
I've dusted all those old bottles and set them up straight.

It's troublingly warm outside, which is means the front porch fridge-overflow is not running at peak beer cooling efficacy. And there's not much space in the fridge. To be honest, there's not much space in the porch either as no fewer than four large boxes of mysterious* beery goodness have landed on the porch steps in recent days.

Also a number of present-shaped packages which would be in clear contravention of our long-running Cringletide present moratorium (beer and gin are exempt).

Of course not - it's still two weeks away.

OTOH, gf celebrates tomorrow and as I will be at hers, there's very little for me to prepare.

Ready? Over and done with here.

Son, DIL and grand-daughter flew off to Toronto this afternoon for Xmas with in-laws, so we had our Xmas dinner yesterday.
