E27 light pendant
« on: May 14, 2020, 05:45:54 pm »
I can find bayonet fitting pendants with consummate ease, but can I find a cheap E27 one, can I heck, as like!
I'm a little baffled by all the sparkie jargon, I confess, so can anyone point me to a simple, white 6-9" drop ceiling pendant, please?

https://www.lampspares.co.uk/pendant-lights/?sort=priceasc any good?  "ES" usually means E27 by default.

Otherwise, cheapest option is probably to get a rose, flex and lampholder separately.

Most Ikea lights are E27. Cheapest pendant for £5, including the shade. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/melodi-pendant-lamp-white-60386527/

I was also going to suggest IKEA...

There's also this approach: https://www.electricals247.co.uk/lamp-socket-converter-bc-to-es.html
Thanks. I've already got a couple of those, but the extra length they add means I bang my head on the bulbs with my low ceilings. IKEA would be good, but they're not delivering to my area right now and the nearest store is 40 miles away once they have closed the Coventry one. I suspect it has already closed for good, seeing as it was earmarked for closure in July.

How strange, Screwfix do an inexpensive SES pendant  but not ES.

Andy, why not do what I do? I find what I want on amazon.co.uk and then I find that item and order it from amazon.de because it will have a European plug and E27 lampholder. Just like amazon.co.uk some sellers ship only to one country , some ship to Europe and others worldwide. You can even select to view amazon.de in English just in case your German is as poor as mine is.

Now there's a thought. Worth a look at the very least. Thanks Lester. And yes, I too was a little baffled by Screwfix's choice.

Well, I bought a pair, but paid £17.50 for them, whereas it would have been <£4 from Toolstation for BC equivalents!
