Interesting, a bit like hybrid cable / hydro brakes. I could see it being handy for recumbents, cargo bikes, and people who have problems with normal shifters. Can do voice-activated or auto shifting too.

I see they've made the usual UI mistake of indicating state by changing the colour of a green/yellow/orange LED from green/yellow/orange to green/yellow/orange.  Fuckwits.

Having to guess what it's doing aside, it does seem to be an electronic shifting system that's designed to solve problems, rather than create new ones.
