Carradice Super C Shopper Pannier, has anyone used one?

It's single compartment pannier with a sort of roll top. But the roll top, the bit you fold over, has only 2 sides. If you fill the bag past the "top", it looks like you have to rely on the drawstring "skirt" to keep your stuff dry.

Has any used this bag?

No doubt it's admirably durable, but shirley the combination of drawstring skirt and flap-closure is a better solution for that sort of use?

Flap covered panniers normally have the handle at the back which means they dangle towards your legs, which makes them not much good for carrying further than To Your Hotel Room. Shoulder straps aren't much better.

This puts the handles in the centre, so they're prioritising off-bike carriability over all-weather cycle touring.

Ah, that makes some sense, at least.  Not that I'm in the habit of carrying full panniers very far, on account of that being what  a) bicycles  and  b) shopping trolleys  are for.

They could make the roll top four sided and the handles will stay in the centre, as the handles are in the top of the right and left edges of the bag.

Maybe cotton duck is too thick for a four sided roll top.

Many years ago, my sister looked at this. As in actually looked at it in a shop, not just thought about it. However, she decided an actual pair of panniers made more sense.

How is it not a pannier?

I've had one for a couple of years, since deliveroo started doing groceries...
It'll swallow two carrier bags of shopping and keep them drier than  if you'd carried them.  Not 100% but good enough for the intended purpose.

It is a single pannier as opposed to a pair.

I have been using Cobags lightweight, lo-cost shopping panniers for a couple of years now. So far so good.
