During a quiet bit on Stage 10, when he was alongside Sean Kelly, he was roundly complimented by Mr Kelly on his professional bicycle riding and undoubted road captain skills.

Luke was obviously embarrassed. It was rather a lovely moment

I liked how Sean also said his compliments were well earned and overdue.

Today’s stage was one of the best rides I’ve seen in ages btw !! Absolutely incredible bike racing

I like the the way Pogi (as it seems he is becoming known) is keen to get wins rather than conserving energy and definding his lead. Also, that when he doesn't get the win he seems to take it with good grace and a smile (eg the stages where Narvaez and Ganna beat him into second). I suppose both are easier if you're that much better than the rest.

TdF is going to be very interesting, with Pog riding as well; though I wonder how many of the recuperating big names will actually ride TdF in the end.

regardless of which "rivals" ride the TdF , I think the Pog will need his best men around him to mark what could be 2 and 3 pronged attacks in the mountains when its hot. he's brilliant but that doesn't mean he won't have to be on his toes - could be some excellent racing

(from my mate, G, who watches the Giro live obsessively) he says that the organisers are saying that the climb to the Umbrail Pass is going ahead despite it snowing, but that the riders are considering refusing to ride up it. I am not sure if this is a summit finish today or if there is a descent off the top of the pass today.

The Umbrail Pass was a highlight of our drive through the Alps last summer, and a small number of cyclists were labouring up it, but far fewer than the Stelvio which was far busier (by a factor of 10) and is mostly plagued by motorcyclists.
It's narrow with lots of trees so might be challenging for the helicopters. Was looking forward to watching it until seeing the latest update which says that the riders have voted to avoid it altogether and won't be starting till 1300 our time

It is the descent off it that the riders are mainly objecting to

I'm really enjoying this year's Giro - even though the winner has been a foregone conclusion since day 2. What Pog is doing goes well beyond grinding out a win - it's mesmerising to the point of artistry.

I've very much enjoyed it too - the variety of parcours and riding styles means that the racing has always been interesting, even if the GC battle has turned out to be very one-sided!

I'm a little confused and disappointed by Ineos's GC tactics. They've been great with their fairly random attacks and stage-hunting, but G's Giro has been very lacklustre. Without Arensman I suspect he'd be a lot further back. He seems quite subdued and uninterested, and has never shown any sign of attacking the race. It's still an outstanding ride by any normal standards, of course, but well short of what we (and he, I'm sure) hoped for.

Not surprised Pog was not happy with 'fans' pushing him on Monte Grappa. And those idiots sprinting wildly right next to the riders...

but has time, energy, & the will to hand a young fan a bidon...
