The front fell off...

Mrs F is on a tour of the Hebrides with some women we met on the South American trip.
Distress call today, the Garmin has fallen apart:

The front fell off by Ron Lowe, on Flickr

I'd noticed there was signs of the screen de-laminating from the housing, but today it let go totally and popped out. It looks like the ribbon cable has just popped out, and it may be repairable by just re-plugging it and gluing the thing back together. In the meantime, a replacement was purchased at the LBS, and the maps and routes programmed into it. The oaves will deliver it to her in Ullapool in a couple of days.

I expect that when Mr Larrington leads the panzers down Whitehall, a special regiment will be sent to round up everyone who thinks that adhesives are a sensible way to hold electronic devices together and glue them to the walls of the reëducation camps.
