Today:

2 bike lights (front, for the use of)
A set of vernier calipers to replace the ones that never arrived and the ebay seller is steadfastly refusing to answer emails from me or ebay (case opened, I paid on 9/8, he claims he sent it on 20/8 and promptly went on holiday, he returned on 4/9, still refused to reply to emails spanner2hammer.co.uk (ebay name))

Yesterday

A pair of Monte Grappa leather saddles (they were cheap and I liked the look of them) and a cotton cap.
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State

A Campag Nuovo Record crankset for my Pat Hanlon project. A little worn but not bad bearing in mind it’s around 40 years old, but it should clean up ok with the careful application of some elbow grease - I’ll be able to keep warm in the garage during the winter by polishing alloy. I just need some wheels, some way to stop the thing and somewhere to sit and I’m on the road (next summer)

A new (to me) 2 year old Dawes badged Dahon 20" wheel folder - as new condition, very good price - complete with bag etc.

(Anyone know the narrowest 406 tyres you can get? - the balloons on it aren't to my liking .. I've yet to search the usual suspects but I thought I'd ask)

I have Schwalbe Stelvios 28-406 on my Moulton, they are an excellent tyre, unfortunately these are no longer made but have been replaced by the Schwalbe Durano in the same size. I cannot comment on the Duranos as I haven't tried them yet.

That was quick .... I also need to measure the ID of the rim as too narrow tyres may be an issue.  Thanks for the tip off

They were actually 'bought' a couple of days ago, but my ass-kicking Ay-Up lights turned up today ;D

From Brisbane to York in less than three days, yet.

Now going outside to take some pics now that it's properly dark ... mwahahaha!

Mine came just as quickly last winter. I emailed them to say I was amazed it took so little time to come from Oz. They said they could get them to their UK customers direct from Brisbane faster than when they had a UK distributor.

They are, ahem, brilliant lights. (Thanks to David Martin for lending me his a couple of years ago. That's what convinced me to get Ay-Ups.)
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

I did wonder about that - I seem to remember them having a UK distributor based in Leicester (I think) but when I was browsing the site earlier in the week I could find no mention of it. Even better was the free shipping and, as I found out when I rang DHL this morning to check, no import duty either. Double win

Not sure what the exact £/AU$ exchange rate is at the moment, but the 'ultra-lite' set with 6hr battery plus three extra handlebar mounts cost me £177, which strikes me as mighty good value for money.

I have been on the lookout for a disc equipped road bike to be an  N+1, but seem to have ended up with N+2, courtesy of Paulson of this parish!

Thanks to Paul for bringing the bike to Cambridge station, I only had to ride it back solo from Hitchin, and found myself really enjoying how it handled on the 13 mile journey.

This will be a dual purpose bike -  as a tandem with Rebecca - we will have to build up to a FNRttC though, and also as a cargo bike by taking off the stoker seat, and adding a special long rake to then take 4 panniers for shopping.

I'm still intending to get N+1 next month!

Set of Ritchey Comp bars, stem and seatpost to replace the ridiculously long-reach drops on Mrs C's Dawes Vantage, the associated 7cm stem (why fit such long reach bars if you have to fit a short stem to - inadequately - compensate?). The seatpost because the Dawes one seems unable to properly grip the saddle rails, and comes loose alarmingly regularly.

Got fed up being warned to replace the cleats on my Eggbeaters by my foot unclipping while powering through a roundabout in rush hour so have just bought a pair of Stainless Speedplay Frogs and a pair of Specialised (Vibram soled) shoes to go with em

PS: Despite what Speedplay say they do work ok on SPD sandals

A new pg-850 cassette to replace the one that's rather exploded on the way home today, and a 20t cog for my singlespeed.

I bought a hub.  It had some gears in a narrow can.

What I really need is a rim to go on the bag full of hub and spokes I've got in the kitchen :-[
Getting there...

I bought a Gore Bike Wear Phantom 2.0 SO Softshell Jacket neon yellow for dull darker days and a blue Pearl Izumi Select Women's Long Sleeve Jersey for cooler days.
The shopping instinct is strong.

Some Charge Spoon loveliness and some Miche shininessnessness.

No, I'm not turning into a Hoxton Hipster, they just happen to be the least expensive deep drop calipers I can find.

On this build, every penny counts.

Oh! I forgot, some Haribos.

Shiny new wheel for the tandem.  Great service from JDs, and the eye-watering price tag can mostly be blames on the Hadley hub.  Hoping this does better than the Shimano version.

As a minor bonus, the new rim isn't quite as tight as the FIR one we had previously, which should save a lot of swearing when the faerie pays a visit.
