"Shiny new bicycle for Christmas" -- is this the happiest phrase in the English language?
"Shiny new bicycle tomorrow"? Unless it happens to be 25th December of course.

Joff's getting ver' busy again now, I know. He wasn't able to help fettle Mr Gates' penny...

Excellent Penny Pootle video.

BTW - is that Liz's bottom overhanging the saddle at the top of the screen?

Not just me. Juliet had a go this evening and she was by far the most gifted penny rider I've seen yet. Even I didn't pick it up this quickly. Within fifteen minutes of first scooting along on the footpeg, she was looking like she'd been riding for years...

Do The Right Thing » I’m all for diversity, BUT . . . » Sweat365 » Fitness Community

What is he trying to say ”I’m all for diversity, BUT . . ." ? Presumably stringing more than a couple of sentences together with a rational argument is beyond his ability. Anyone who uses a phrase like "I .... but ...." is normally about to come out with something outrageously bigoted, ie "I've got nothing against arabs but ...." is generally followed by something criticizing people with beards or a swarthy complexion as a single monotype cultural group.

This article seems to verge on the same area, ie "I don't mind diversity, so long as it isn't actually diverse enough to trigger my own arbitrary level of it being too unusual".
Actually, it is rocket science.

I'm presuming that a lanky, mouthy, half-crazed bender on a penny farthing would definitely fall within his definition of "unnusual"...

Unusual is one thing, but he seems to have an issue with too unusual (by whatever his definition of that is).

I didn't know you were doing video as well!

It was top fun, although I'm not actually tempted to acquire one myself ;) (although admittedly only because if I was spending that sort of money there's several *other* sorts of bikes that are closer to the top of the List)

...How did she get off?

With some assistance :) (I think technically the last time around I got off all by myself, but Charlotte was still standing ready to assist in case of Error. That footpeg is a long way down!

Oh, Pete says what is the soundtrack, please? He thinks it's someone they saw play in Croissant Neuf at Glasto.

Damn. IIRC, Juliet's about the same height as me, so the excuse that I couldn't ride it due to not reaching the pedals properly has just vanished. :-[ :'(

5'9" - I could reach the pedals but it wouldn't have been comfortable for a longer ride (I was v nearly straightening my leg at the farthest point, and my heels were up further than I prefer). Charlotte's not much taller than me but more of her height is in the legs!

Really? That makes me feel better: I'm only 5'6" (though recent shoe purchases have seen me regularly topping six foot). So I can claim that it's not my fault that I couldn't ride the penny. ;D

I had obviously misremembered your height. Or had been wearing heels when I met you.
