Autie Helen's last picture of the food hemporium must have been taken from the car park of that most excellent cycle shop:Off the Front Home

n
Funnily enough I could see lots of signs for a cycle shop but no shop  :o

Dammit, WARTY or FNRttC. :-\

The FNRttC has the advantage that it's harder for me to oversleep. :-[

I shall have to think on this, at the moment I'm a possible.
Actually, it is rocket science.

I am probably going to ride down to this, if I can work out a route.
Here you are annie, this would be the route I'd take to get to Marks Tey from your gaff, Clicky. Mostly white roads with a little yellow and orange.

.....that most excellent cycle shop:Off the Front Home

That would be an excellent bike shop if it wasn't for the fact that the mechanic guy who works there is the most miserable, rude and just generally unpleasant being ever to masquerade as a human!
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

I've only ever seen him wearing a Firefox (as in web browser) T-shirt and moping about behind the counter doing his best to ignore customers. I feel a slight urge to go there and wind him up by asking loads of dumb questions, but I know this would only backfire and I would end up walking out of the shop in a mild rage.

Annie, could you place me on your list please. Also, I'm well up for this cycle ride. :P

Maybe on the WARTY we should all go in and queue up and one by one ask ridiculous questions  ;D

Take an old PC in to the "charming" mechanic - preferably Apple with just the Safari browser on it - tell it (him) you DON'T do Firefox cos its too slow an all... Ask him if he does repairs for Linux .

Ask him if he can fit some wheels to your old Apple G3 cos you want to take it with you on a tour, an they are so reliable, an you couldn't possibly use one of those PC things in an Internet Caff, cos they aint got proper Apple keyboards, An a Mac on wheels would be cool, especially on the Dun Run - & has he done it, & if not why not..

 ;D

A word in favor of old Firefox/Misery/Off the front.

He might be a little gruff in his demeanor but he always makes adequate and reasonably priced adjustments or repairs to my couple of bikes. He even found a cheap bit from his upstairs store for me.

But then;i am a miserable old sod;perhaps we just relate.

No argument that it's a great bike shop, and I'm sure he's a very good technician. I thought it was called Interbike, anyway it's quite a gem where you wouldn't expect a big bike shop like that - Marks Tey.

I’m torn between this and the FNRttC. This was winning, except now I’ve been invited to birthday drinks on this day. Given the time that WARTYs usually finish, I think it might be a bit of a rush to get home, showered, changed and go out again, etc...plus there is the dog to think of.

Bah. I so enjoyed the last one.

I drove past Marks Tey (A120) yesterday and the awkward road has now had a crossing with traffic lights installed so will now be much easier. This is good!

That makes life a lot easier for those hoping to get to the station.

Not sure about a route yet. Annie's away from home this week so this might be a bit late to be published.

Went into the bike shop (now called Interbike, it seems) this morning and ended up having a 20 minute conversation about tyres. I know how to have a good time.

An unexpectedly large bike shop for somewhere like Marks Tey but I didn't find anything I actually wanted to buy. Which is a bit of a shocker! Too many lairy-coloured cycling jerseys, nothing for the more refined/subdued lady.

Yebbut, really WARTY is Wowbagger and Annie's Round The Year ride. One ride a month, about 50 miles, gentle pace, fantastic company, coffee in the morning, pub at lunch, sometimes tea in the afternoon.

The next is on May 9th, as discussed in this very thread.

The June ride is slightly different, involving a visit to Glastonbury and Stonehenge, on account of it being the Summer Solstice.
