Black wild cherry blossom
« on: 20 April, 2009, 09:01:51 pm »
We have a fully-grown wild black cherry in our back garden, about 40' high (that's a 6' fence).  The third week in April every year, it looks like this.

The birds always eat the cherries before they're ripe, but they're inedible anyway.  Strange fact: the leaves give off a small amount of cyanide when crushed and cows can die if they eat too many of them.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

Stonkin' looking tree Roger.

I'm off tomorrow with His Leggship to the wilds of north Kent - I daresay we'll encounter some blossom en route.
