*Is* there one that genuinely prevents plaque build up - or is it just snake oil?

Having had about a cwt of concrete removed from my teeth this week, it would be nice to prevent it coming back.

My dentist said they weren't worth using and said it's simply a case of having a proper brushing routine.

My dentist advised me to use one that contained fluoride, as I have weak enamel on my teeth. Corsodyl is good if your gums are a bit icky. And avoid Listerine, he said. It's too caustic.

Watch out for Corsodyl. Prolonged use (even as little as once a day for a couple of weeks) can stain your teeth brown which will require just as much cleaning as plaque buildup.

My dentist recommended a mouthwash that included flouride, she didn't say anything bad about me using Listerine.

Corsodyl also tastes like something from a chemistry lab .

Power toothbrush for at least two minutes, twice a day, and occasional Lysterine for me.

I'm having to use Corsadyl at the moment because of some gum trouble I'm having. It's right annoying - it makes your mouth taste horrible for hours...

I've been using Aloedent recently.  Rather less harsh, and without that altered taste effect.

Gin does pretty much the same thing and tastes nicer.

Cheaper than Listerine too.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

Actually, now you mention it, I've had less tartar build-up on my tongue piercing since I started using Listerine.  Does that count?
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.
