Insomnia

Bah bloomin' bah.

I'm getting fed up with this.     Turned the light out for sleep this morning when the dawn chorus shut up around 04:15.

Done a full day's work.  Cycle commuted (hour's fast exercise).  Done a keep fit session.  Not gone to bed in front of the TV (cos they say it is norty and keeps you awake).

Don't feel tired.

Boooooooooored.

Gonna listen to ISIHAC on iPlayer now.  Any idea how I can rip the soundtrack to save for permanency?

I'm having terrible sleep woes these days. Normally in bed by midnight - 0100. Alarms set for 0645. Usually wake around 0430. Not hitting the TEA overly in the evening. Some form of exercise or other most days.

 ???

Too much/Too much  >:(

But at 03:00 Tuesday morning when I was sooo bored I turned the light on to read for an hour or two, not a drop had passed betwixt me lips.

Last night I was expecting to have slept, having had just 4 hours kip in 40 hours (as at the time of posting).

Purposefully cut the coffee right down today.

Not drunk anything.

Not slept for most of the week.

Bored and grumpy.

I found the best way to deal with insomnia is not to get stressed by it, i have periods where I don't fall asleep till the early hours of the morning, therefore stay up till very late, but I function fine the next day. So is it a problem?

Only problem is the fact that I do feel very tired, but once I'm in bed I wake up and get bored.

The next day I can feel crap, really tired, but then wake up in the evening at bed time.  I am getting grumpy, short tempered and snappy, and irritable.

Maybe once it cools down and autumn comes along I might feel a bit better.

Depends if it happens for a long time.

From memory, it's happened every summer for the last 25 to 30 years  ::-)

I still remember being asked by a teacher at school "what time do you go to bed".  I asked "do you mean get into bed, or actually go to sleep?"  She couldn't understand that there was a 2 to 3 hour gap between those two events.  And I hadn't discovered caffeine or boozahol at that age.

lol.

Well it's poets day tomorrow.  Then a 3 day weekend.

Maybe the work annoyances will chill out during that time and next week will be better.

Hopefully things get better for you.

I'm going to have a few drinks and hopefully I'll be able to get some sleep.

Have you tried Sleep restriction therapy? Relatively easy to try yourself without medical intervention and gets good results. There seem to be a few sites out there describing the method

It can also be your body clock getting borked. Mrs Pcolbeck has always been a bad sleeper and went through a period where she couldn't get to sleep and was getting really tired. The doctor prescribed her something that she took for 10 days that made her sleep properly and as it were re set her body clock. Be careful though as the doc said they were quite addictive. They worked well for her. If its just the light that's doing it then get some blackout material to go behind your curtains.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears

To sleep or not to sleep, that is the question.

Is this a dawn chorus I hear before me?

Such stuff as dreams are made on

To sleep, perchance to dream- ay, there's the rub.
