Our Window Cleaner

turns out to be a keen cyclist of the race-snake variety.
I know this because he took a close interest in my recent JoGLE,gave a generous donation & brought his Trek Madone round (unsolicited) to show me.All this about 8 weeks ago.
Tonight he called round with a Time Trial data sheet for a 10 mile TT starting less than 300 metres from my front door tomorrow night.Question is........amIboverred.?
He says I should:Marj says I should.I suspect conspiracy & collusion.
So I start reading all the info(oh dear,I'm sliding down the slippery slope of commitment) & the age/time column says
29 mins 6 secs :o
Hellsbells.
I know this road  & course intimately from living here for 30-odd years.Half an hour.I don't think so sunshine,it has uphill bits in it,both directions.

However, my curiosity is awoken.Could I? If not,how long?

So does the panel have an opinion?
Is this the start of funny helmets, silly overshoes, eggbeaters, aerobars & disc wheels?

No no no.  You should do it on fixed, with straight handlebars, wearing a khaki suit and Pith helmet. ;D
Actually, it is rocket science.

This is taking a serious turn.
I have been down the road to check out the exact starting point, arranged my work to be home & eating not later than 5 pm(it starts at 7pm) giving time for a warm up on the rollers or turbo. It takes less than 5 mins to amble to the line which is insufficient to start a ride at pace.I normally need 20 mins to feel comfortable & find a rythm.
Did I mention that the signing-on area is in the pub car park ;)

I have actually started training ......only two bottles of Grolsch tonight :)

Slippery slope...

Yup.that's what bothers me.
This TT is run every Wednesday untill mid Sept.( I think). It could be incorporated into a regular ride diary including weekend rides & used to measure any increase ;D in fitness.
I may even become a serious cyclist :D

More cycling factionalism. That's the VTTA figure as here; whereas the CTT figure is here, a mere 28.31.

AlansRealWorldCycling time was
32:33

I expected to be around 40 mins so that time is not too shabby.
I learned a lot tonight about pre-ride eating & pacing.Hoping to improve next week.I think knowing the course will also be an advantage next time.

On the + side:I never came off the big ring even up the hills & never dropped below 21kmh which is pretty good for me :)

Ya daft bugger.  You're supposed to turn round & go back to the start, not stop half way at a cafe! ;)

Now, put tribars on your Langster, set an 81'' gear and go back. That's going to be fun!  :smug:

What is the course number?

Moi aussi ( IIRC that's correct for "me too" in your native tongue  but correct me if I'm wrong) normally because I am by nature a lazycantbebovvered person. The only reason I attended was because it is so close to the front door & the first 100 metres to the start line is downhill  :)
