A friend of mine came round to borrow my spade this lunchtime. He lives in a flat, & lacks the urge to hit people, so normally has no use for such a tool, but his car was snowed in. I went back with him to lend a hand, & half an hour later he was able to drive out of the car park. We dug his wheels out, & compacted enough snow to give him a track to the exit.
None of the cars in his section of car park had moved since the snow fell. It looked as if none were able to, without a bit of digging. Homebase has sold out of shovels (I was there this morning: it still had a few spades left, but very few, & going fast). B&Q is a very long walk - & I wouldn't be surprised if it's also sold out.
