This hill's loads of fun  :demon:, as long as there are no cars slowing for the 40 mph - then 30 mph a short disatance later. Yes they will be in your way :o
where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The forecast is for it to be relatively warm*.

H

Relative in the sense that it is above freezing.

Just.

There's a load of salt about (here, at least)

I got gritted twice last night, and every time a car passed i got enveloped in a cloud of dry, dusty, powdered salt...

Winter bikes may still be appropriate.

*oh gosh*

As for powdered salt....

Have been agonising over whether I pack the sequins or glittery gold skin pants.

Does any one know what 'the done thing' is in Bishop's Cleeve's fleshpot, the Swallow Inn, on a Friday night?

Actually, it's all clean and shiny at the mo: new chainset, chain, sprocket and rear wheel since you saw it.

my rourke has done 400 miles this week without a wash, but the Look gets very special attention. I'm gagging for a spin on it, I'm sick to death of the rourke.

Is there any mud in the forecourt of the Sunshine Desserts start control?

I am getting quite excited.

Except that the two checkpoints are to avoid shortcuts.  It's only an issue for the poor buggers who have to man the checkpoints, I guess, but I know what you mean.

The Flyer, as it is currently routed and Controlled, relies heavily on Volunteer support from the local (my) clubs and CTC West folk (at Brunton), so please say a friendly thank you to all.

One of my memories at Badminton last year was Brenda at the refreshment counter plying us with tea and cakes; so please have a thought for Ron as you scoff.

And even the weather seems to be coming good for a great day out. Let's enjoy it.

My abiding memory too... and referred to upthread.  Good on Ron for managing to hold it all together.

Well that was a grand day out.  Fantastic choice of route by Cheltenham CTC that could not be faulted and good weather to boot.  Also met Monsieur PumpĂ© at the Badminton control - so I now have a face to the name.

Boy, whilst it was not steep, that final long climb from Sapperton towards the top of the Cotswold escarpment was utterly exhausting.  Time to relax now until tomorrow when I have to lead a club run :-[

Nice to meet you, Philip!

A great day out today.  A ride of two halves for me.  Got to the halfway point at 11.20, and then waited for my friend John to arrive.  He arrived in bits, and so the return leg took an age.  Great cakes at Badminton, and good company all day.

Great to see Hummers, who felt John's crotch, and Malvolio, who didn't. Also met Jethro! ;D

A lovely day out.  Even I got to the 100k point in 4 hours.  It took a bit longer to get back though...

The road to Winstone seemed interminable.  I saw Flatus at the controls, and had a chat with LWaB, Hummers, Il Postino and De Sisti at the end.

Hopefully there was enough cake left at the Arrivee, "You B*****d" !  ;)
